Amazing Nonprofits in Ponte Vedra Beach!
Hi friends!
Today is all about nonprofits in our area doing great things! If you’ve wanted to get involved in a local nonprofit so you can literally SEE your impact, these nonprofits in Ponte Vedra are a great way to get involved!
There’s something for everyone, even your kiddos! I encourage you to look into not only how you can donate monetarily, but how you can spend time with your kids doing something good. Host a bake sale in your neighborhood benefitting Peace of Heart or host a car wash or lemonade stand and donate all proceeds to K9’s for Warriors! Get creative and make it a family (or neighborhood) adventure!
K-9’s for Warriors
https://www.k9sforwarriors.org/
K-9’s for Warriors is located in Ponte Vedra, FL. They have a BIG goal to “end veteran suicide, by providing highly-trained Service Dogs to veterans suffering from PTSD, traumatic brain injury and/or military sexual trauma.” Noble and very needed. Whether or not you agree with the size of the military, the current places our military is stationed and their goals there, or the future plans, these are people that are hurt and need to be healed. You can make a difference by donating your time, dollars, or even a puppy! Visit their site to learn more about how to get involved!
Peace of Heart Community
This sweet organization was founded by Howard and Amy Groshell. They have a heart for teenagers and adults with autism and seek to “create an environment where a meaningFULLife for persons with autism can be realized by fostering an atmosphere of love, happiness, and belonging where all life is valued, voices are heard, and talents are developed to make a difference in the world.” A great way to get involved is to be a part of their farming program. They plant, seed, tend, and harvest on a weekly basis. Simply RSVP and show up from 9-12! Families can purchase an annual membership and come pick produce each Saturday or you can drop in on a Saturday to buy a la carte. Visit their site for volunteer and donation opportunities!
JT Townsend Foundation
https://www.jttownsendfoundation.org/
JT Townsend, the foundation’s namesake, suffered a spinal cord injury during a high school football game in October 2004. Despite his injury, JT enjoyed success in both high school and college where he graduated in 2013 from the University of North Florida (UNF) with a major in Sports Management. He and his family set up the foundation to help others with injuries and disabilities similar to JT’s. The medical care and equipment needed is expensive, and JT wanted others to have every fighting chance to chase their dreams like he did. Although JT passed away suddenly in 2013, his memory lives on through the foundation and the lives he touched. You can see evidence of this in the sponsorship of the Ocean Palms Elementary playground where their generous donation allowed the school to purchase a large piece of playground equipment that children with wheelchairs can enjoy! The Cultural Center at Ponte Vedra Beach
Art brings joy! What better way to share the joy of creating art than being involved with the Cultural Center at Ponte Vedra Beach! My boys love creating and we have done art camps in the summertime, but there is so much more than just summer camps! The Cultural Center hosts adult art classes, flower arranging classes, theater classes for kids, and so much more! Become a member and enjoy reduced rates on all classes and camps as well as free admission to over 900 museums and cultural institutions in North America, which will come in handy for traveling as cities open back up and welcome vacationers!
We are lucky to have some great nonprofits right here in our area! If you know of a great one that is not on this list, please let me know!
